What counts as an error

• A line in the New licensees table that differs from the regulator's list as it stood on the date the list was read.
• A wrong section of the Act or a wrong regulation number.
• A date, amount or period that does not match its source.
• A statement the cited source does not support.
• Wording that promotes gambling or an operator, or a link to an operator.
• A missing 18+ notice or a missing link to help and self-exclusion.

One thing is not an error: the regulator changing its list after the date this site read it. That is an update. The table is read again, and the new reading date appears on the table's date tabs.

How to report one

No reporting channel is published yet, because the publisher has not been named. When a channel exists it will be listed on the contact page. A useful report gives the page address, the sentence or table line, and the source that shows it is wrong, such as a section of the Act or the regulator's live page.

Until then, the automated checks described in the editorial policy run on every build, and anything they or a later reading of a source turns up is fixed through the same steps.

What happens next

1. The claim is checked against the primary source, not against another website.
2. If the page is wrong, the text is corrected and the page's updated date changes.
3. An entry is added to the log below: the date, the page, what was wrong and what changed.
4. Where a mistake could have misled someone about a licence or a legal duty, the corrected page also says what it used to say.

Fixes are never made silently, and an entry stays in the log after the page is corrected.
